Veronica or speedwell is a group of border perennials that grow flower spikes 12-24 inches tall, the plants will spread up to 18 inches across. These perennial V. spicata cultivars are mat-forming perennials that come in shades of blue, white and red.
They are fairly unfussy about soil though in very rich fertile ground will probably celebrate by growing more foliage than they will flowers, putting on growth while the going is good and leaving reproduction (=flowering) until later on.
They can be grown in full sun or partial shade. Propagation is from seed, division in spring or fall or from softwood cuttings taken in mid summer for older or more woody plants that are not easy to divide.
