Flowers June to July, some to September
Coreopsis or Tickseed is a native plant of prairie and woodland from North and Central America.
The species types, or those closest to species have flowers that are golden yellow in colour. These types are generally more hardy than more recent hybrids and cultivars with flowers in a range of hot pinks that need warmer climates to do well.
Almost all varieties of Tickseed are drought tolerant and grow best in full sun, they will tolerate some shade, though only partial and only for part of the day. They require well drained soil and will not do well in heavy wet conditions.
Propagation is by seed or division of the plants in early spring. Height is from 12-30 inches according to variety and spread generally about 2/3rds of the height of flower spikes.
